Utilising the HollowTech II technology, this Ultegra groupset from Shimano offers light and strong components. Dual control STI levers are beautiful and ergonomic; comfortable, easy gear changes due to the optimum position of your hand.
The inclusion of a cam in the brake levers, strong pivot calipers and an improved pad compound all add up to dramatically increased braking power.
The careful attention to the design of the rear cogs makes for gear changes which are smoother and crisper, along with the set of front and rear derailleurs. Everything has been calculated and designed specifically to improve all angles of the ride, and the gears are one of the major areas of that improvement. The front changer is fixed at two points to resist any warp in shape from the pressure of changing under load, the rear cage is made more rigid and also resists flex. The cog sizes have been chosen to give a whole load of power to hill climbs.
The wide distance between bearings and the reinforced bottom bracket go a long way to reducing axle flex, and that is all good stuff for power transference.
The Ultegra 6700 really is a superb groupset, a marked improvement on the 6600 in just about every aspect.

A lighter yet stiffer bottom bracket spindle and the HollowTech II crank make this Ultegra SL chainset a top contender in the performance range. Chamfered chainrings for optimal gear changes, swift, smooth and precise. The bottom bracket bearings can be spaced out a little further allowing for an increased axle diameter and larger bearings. This makes for a stiffer axle and less flex, more power transference. Note the bottom bracket does not come with the chainset and needs to be ordered seperately.

The Ultegra 6700 Brake Calipers (to be used with 7900 / 6700 STIs. This pair of dual pivot caliper brakes are rigid and responsive, the SLR design has increased the braking power noticably. The modified pad component produces 20% more stopping power in dry conditions and double that in the wet. The design incorporates adjustability and easy set up.

Available in short or medium cage, this Shimano rear derailleur, the Ultegra 6700 is compatible with Shimano 10 speeds. The wide link design offers a highly efficient gear change and spot on accurate shifts. The pulley is fashioned from aluminium, making it very light and the outer link plates are wide, increasing the joint between the pivots less flexible, this makes the gear shift more accurate.
