Fatbirds joins the Pedal Revolution

The UK’s leading Titanium bike retailer and online cycling store, Fatbirds has successfully merged with ambitious, long-established, Norfolk-based cycle business, Pedal Revolution.

Based in North-Norfolk, Fatbirds (previously known as Fatbirds Don’t Fly), have been involved in the cycling retail industry for over twenty years. Over the last 10 years they developed their passion for all things Titanium resulting in becoming Europe’s biggest retailer of Titanium road bikes. Working with leading brands, Van Nicholas, Kinesis, J Guillem, Enigma and Lynskey has enabled Fatbirds to develop a specialist customer experience, using their knowledge, expertise and workshop skills, to help their customers put together their perfect custom Titanium bike – from frame type and size, groupset, crank length, cassette size, stem size, bar width and so on.

During this time, Fatbirds have also developed a successful and popular online store for bikes and cycle accessories – building a reputation for the best brands, excellent prices, fantastic cycling knowledge and great customer service.

Since it was established in 1992, Pedal Revolution has transformed from the typical local bike shop to a successful regional chain of cycling centres and cycle events company – bucking the industry trend by going from strength to strength. Rather than following the traditional local bike shop business model of just opening the door, wait for people to come in, then sell them what you have on the shelf; Pedal Revolution have focused on developing the local cycling community by being involved with community led projects (such as the Great Yarmouth Bike Project and Pedal Revolution Scholarship Scheme) and organising popular mass participation cycle sportive and events around the region.

Pedal Revolution has a strong relationship with a number of the industry’s leading brands and suppliers such as Giant, Liv, Trek, Specialized, Cervelo, Felt and Focus – along with a 20 strong, male and female workforce of passionate road cyclists, mountain bike and offroad trail-rippers, cyclo-cross racers, Time-Trial Champions, Ironman triathletes and those who just like a leisurely weekend bimble – this enables us to provide expert advice to anyone looking to purchase a new bicycle, whether they are a multiple duathlon world champion, a commuter or a family buying their child their first bike.

Pushing the limits of the traditional Local Bike Shop, the three Norfolk-based Pedal Revolution stores offer workshop services, demo bikes, bike fitting and performance analysis, coffee areas as well as being official Zwift Experience Dealers. Through Pedal Revolution Events we are also able to host a variety of Cycling based events from special in store evenings like our Pedal Revolution Ladies Night or our popular introductory bicycle mechanics courses, to organised Velodrome experience trips, to mass participation cycle sportives – we even organise cycling holidays!

The merger will see Fatbirds relocating to a larger Pedal Revolution cycling hub based in King’s Lynn. The Fatbirds Titanium range and expertise will be available throughout all three Pedal Revolution stores in Norwich, Gorleston-on-Sea and King’s Lynn. We will have also made arrangements to further increase the range of Titanium brands and will focus on developing the Fatbirds Titanium Bikes brand.

The existing Fatbirds Online store and distribution centre will be retained and rebranded, the existing product range will be bolstered through the addition of all the Pedal Revolution’s leading brands, all of which will be available to purchase for delivery or in store collection at any of our stores. The merger will help broaden the Pedal Revolution cycling community to West Norfolk and online.
